Susanne was born in the north part of Germany and has been around the ocean her entire life.  When Susanne came to the United States 30 years ago, one of her requirements was to be near the ocean and that made San Diego a natural choice for her. The fluid nature of the ocean is what inspires her art.

 

Susanne’s process in creating her art is extremely hands on as she literally creates her art with her hands without brushes. When Susanne first dived into the world of art, she tried brushes to perform the artwork, but felt more connected to the art by being “hands on,” which allows her to express her true self.

 

Susanne is inspired by all things found in nature with her greatest influence being the vastness of the ocean. She maintains a residency in both Flensburg, Germany and San Diego, California, and she bridges the gap with her art.

 

While living in Germany, Susanne often traveled to various countries. Traveling is one of the passionate sides of Susanne. Even moving to other cities within Germany would not stop her curiosity of the world.

 

As a free spirit, Susanne never chose to follow the traditional role as a woman. Susanne started collecting experience in various jobs from being responsible in her early 20s for the second location of a successful jeans company in Flensburg, where she did purchasing and scheduling along with sales to planning, orchestrating, and welcoming artists on stage for Entertainment, Music, Literature for the Tourists on the lovely island Sylt.

 

Moving to California gave Susanne not only a completely different lifestyle and set of traditions, but most of all, Susanne took on the important role of becoming the mom of a beautiful son. Taking some time off was appropriate.

 

A few years later in 2010, Susanne started her very own successful Bookkeeping Company in Bird Rock, La Jolla. As of today, she is still enjoying her clients after 14 years in business.

 

Owning her own business was the beginning when Susanne’s abstract art started living. It was a combination born out of analytical thinking, logic and reasoning, mathematics, bookkeeping (left side of her brain) and image processing, creativity, emotional response, intuition (right side of her brain).
